Thank you so much to all the people who came last week to the class in Tottenham, it was a great time and it allowed a few more people to discover the wonder and delight of Biodanza.

STAND OUT #3 ( the last one of this serie )

extract of the book “Linchpin” of Seth Godin, you must know by now that I am huge fan ( if this word is right as I don’t like this one of course ) of Seth.

“There are countless people waiting to tell you how to fit in, waiting to correct you, advise you, show you what you are doing wrong.

And no one pushing you to stand out.

If you add up all the books, scolds, back-benchers, bosses, teachers, parents, cops, co-workers, employees, religious zealots, politicians and friends who can show how to fit in just so, it’s sort of overwhelming. It’s clear to me that we are really good at establishing and reinforcing the status quo.

Fit in too much, though, and nothing much happens. Where are the self-appointed agitators and firebrands, the people who will egg you on, and push you to stand for something?

They seem to be missing.”

I can tell you they exist, there are people who stand out all around you, but you don’t even see them, because you are blinded by all those who fit in and pull you down to fit in as well.

This Sunday, you will have the chance to stand out in the class. What? You are afraid of standing out? It means you need even more to come.

Just one question to end this letter:

when will you start if not now?,

who if not you?

The Fire of a Linchpin Dance Teacher

The Linchpin meet up on Monday 14 June in the Royal Festival Hall was one of two hottest moment in my life. I can remember only another similar one 8 years back when I met Biodanza ( dance of Life ), a dance from Chile that has changed my life so dramatically and lighted a fire in me in such a way that I am now a Biodanza teacher.

Being a linchpin demands listening to yourself and following what you feel in your guts. In my personal experience and as a Biodanza teacher I meet all the time people who don’t feel anything, or just don’t listen to their feelings. Merely because for generations after generations, most of the people just followed instructions. It seemed so easier and comfortable.

The situation today is that most of the people got the possibilities and the potentialities to make their dream come true. But a long time ago, they forgot how to dream.

The question is then: What can help them to dream again? What can help them to reconnect with their feelings, with the fire inside, with the passion in their guts.

So my participation in this evolution is helping people to reconnect to their own feelings, so they are able to listen to themselves and therefore they also can do what is good for them.

Therefore to reconnect to your feelings you have to contact the energy in your guts, and actually that’s the best way to defeat the lizard Seth Godin wrote about in “Linchpin”

To connect to your feelings, you have to move. Literally. Dancing is nothing else than that: a meaningful movement to music.

About music, isn’t it also the best way to reconnect to feelings and life.

That’s where Biodanza comes in: this dance system created in the ‘60s is much needed today to help people reconnect with oneself, with others and with the group and the world.

One of the feedbacks that I can hear most often from the people doing Biodanza is :

Here in the class, in this group, I can be myself.

Imagine the world if everyone was exactly himself/herself and nothing more, nothing less than him/her self. To take his/her place, and fully play the game.

It’s here and now the greatest opportunity of your life to be truly, totally and simply yourself

Let’s start the dance. Let’s light the fire.

Stand out from the crowd

There are many things to do to stand out from the crowd.

There surely is only one way to really and truly stand out from the crowd: being yourself.

Writing it, another quote comes immediately to my mind:

“be yourself, anyone else is already taken”.

That’s so funny and profound.

Yet so many times we try to be like someone else for many diverse reasons. Because we think it will be easier to do like someone else to succeed or get something like he/she did.

But so often it works differently from one person to the next. Merely because we are different and act differently.

There really is no recipe for success or happiness, if we consider these are the ultimate achievements in life.

Don’t look outside to stand out from the crowd, just be genuinely yourself and nobody won’t be able to be better than you as nobody can be yourself.

One question is: what am I good at? and do it again and again, and improve it again and again.

It won’t be long before you are noticed and you stand out from the crowd.

Again, one of the best way to be yourself is reconnecting to your feelings.

To do that, moving is one of the best way I personally experienced.

That’s why I invite you this Sunday to share the dances and the music I will be delighted to offer you.

Now is the time to genuinely be yourself

Today I will talk about business and the way all our culture is changing completely.

You may have noticed that advertising doesn’t work anymore like it did. People don’t want to be bombarded all the time by advertisement they don’t trust anymore.

Nowadays, when we have something to buy, we ask our friends, family, colleagues, we ask opinions and recommendations from people we trust.

We can also connect with people on the internet and it’s more likely than after a while, we will trust these people because our experience showed that we can trust them and that their opinions are valuable.

They are not selling us anything, they are just sharing their own experiences. They are just being themselves, with their joys, their sadness, their strengths and their weaknesses.

And that is more and more the way people intetact with each other, and more and more the way we do anything and everything.

After a long time of more and more disconnections, we are going the other way with more and more re-connections. And in 5 or 10 years, we won’t understand how it was possible to do any other way.

All that is really good news: it means we don’t need anymore to wear a mask to go to work or to change our behaviour to please the people around us.

You can genuinely be yourself.

Being yourself is the only way to find real love, being happy and make others happy around you. Being yourself is the only way to achieve any real success in Life.

And in this evolution, Biodanza is a wonderful tool to help people to reconnect with themselves, with each other and with the group.

The power of nature is your power

We belong to this earth and to our mother Nature where we are coming from.

There would be no life on earth without the light and warmth from the Sun. The same burning fire of the Sun can be found inside our planet.

And regularly, the power of Nature comes to remind us about that. And remind us that we are made of this fire energy where all forms of life originate.

Sometimes, the reminder is not pleasant and even very disturbing for us as we live our lives not so much connected to this energy.

Like this event that is just happening these days with a volcano stranding 100,000 people.

From our point of view, dependant as we are from our system, it is terrible: my daughter was supposed to come here in London for one week, and despite all efforts, we had to postpone this travel and the nice time we had planned together.

There is another point of view to this, of course and that’s what I invite to discover in every event in your everyday life.

One of the best mean to discover other points of view is to move and look and feel things and events in a new way.

And doing so, we can reconnect to this fire energy and the origin of our own life. And change our life presence in this world.

That’s my invitation for this Sun Day class.

You know we are all equal. But here is another questions: do we all have the same chances?

Do you have more or less chances than the person next to you?

And still another one: is it possible to give the same exact chances to all and everyone?

I am sure you have your ideas about the answers to these questions.

What I am quite sure about too is that you already experienced in one way or another this thing: you took action to make something happen and give it chances to happen.

And what if you actually created this chance? YOU made it happen?

I know you doubt about it or you don’t believe it at all.

Everyone is a teacher

We all have something to teach and something to learn from each other.

Even if in my class, I am the teacher, I am learning each and every time from the people dancing in my class and it is absolutely lovely. I love to teach and I love as much to learn from all of you.

I don't know if you realise the importance of that: it means that you don't have to think about yourself as the one who doesn't know, and about me as the one who knows

It is abolutely not the case. To be the teacher is main and firstly a question of deciding to be a leader, choosing that you can take the lead. That nobody can take the lead instead of you. Especially when it comes to your life.

Not taking the lead on others, rather taking the lead on your own life. And see where it leads you. You probably would be amazed where it could lead you.

If you take the lead, you will soon be able to offer your strengths to others, and share the best in you. and make it possible for a group of people to experience something together.

The Rites of Spring in a lovely Community

On the 21st March in Chances Tottenham it will be skillsharing day.

I will have the pleasure to offer a discovery session of Biodanza.

This is an Invitation to dance the Rites of spring, celebrate the return of the power of the sun, as it reawakens the Earth energies. To throw off the restraints of winter & reach out for what we want, expand & take risks. To fertilise & realise our dreams. Also simply to have fun in connection with each other with the simple yet profound excersizes of biodanza.

Biodanza is about YOU.

YOU and dancing.

This week, I want to talk about something I heard quite often about dance. People say ‘I cannot dance’.

And it’s directly related to the conception we have about dance.

What is actually dance ?

Most often dance is perceived as something to watch rather than something to experience. Or at least, if you experience it, it is to become able to do what you can see in shows, whatever is the style of these dances.

It means that the outside is more important than the inside. it means that what others will perceive and/or think is more important than what you experience when you are actually dancing.

It means that all the time the reference is somewhere outside of you, outside of us. We are all the time doing things to conform ourselves to what was told to us that was good, or to what is considered as a reference.

If you take a closer look to this, it is a usual perception and behaviour for quite everything. Always trying to reach things that are out of us, always trying to model others who achieved what we would like to achieve.

That’s not bad nor good, that’s merely the way we are educated and the culture we are living in.

Biodanza is an invitation to change the reference by starting from what we feel and experience inside of us. Rather than doing anything to show others what we can do. Rather than doing anything to be seen and considered/loved by others.

Connecting to oneself is essential as no one else than you knows what is good for you, nobody can’t tell you what you can or cannot do. Only connecting to your feelings can allow you to take the right step toward your goals and dreams in life.

Finally if you need a definition of ‘dance’, here is one that is really relevant:

“dance is a meaningful movement to music”

The important word here is meaningful, and again the meaning is the one YOU give to YOUR dance, not anyone else.

So if you can walk, you can dance.

If you click on the picture here above you will watch a video taken during a vivencia taught by Rolando Toro himself. He doesn’t appear in this short video. It was in Summer 2007 in the South of France when he came, invited by our school of Toulouse to teach the module about biocentric education.

There was more than 150 people and we as students of the school organised everything. it was one of the most wonderful and amazing Biodanza experience I have ever had.

We also had the chance to “explore the unknown” for the 2 next days with him.

I will never forget this week-end.

Today, the School of Toulouse where I trained doesn’t existe anymore.

Today, the genius creator of the Biodanza system doesn’t exist anywhere else than in our souvenirs and in our hearts.

I am not sad.

Constantly things and beings are dying.

Continuously things and beings are born.

That’s life in itself, cycles, rhythmns, disappearing, birth.

That’s why I invite you to celebrate Rolando Toro this Sunday with Joy and Pleasure, my constant hosts in my class.

we will celebrate Rolando Toro and the wonderful and powerful systel he has created. We will celebrate Life and its constant changes.

Reminder: this class on next Sunday is not open to absolute beginners. If you have taken part in at least one class of Biodanza before, you are very welcome.
