Biodanza is about YOU.

YOU and dancing.

This week, I want to talk about something I heard quite often about dance. People say ‘I cannot dance’.

And it’s directly related to the conception we have about dance.

What is actually dance ?

Most often dance is perceived as something to watch rather than something to experience. Or at least, if you experience it, it is to become able to do what you can see in shows, whatever is the style of these dances.

It means that the outside is more important than the inside. it means that what others will perceive and/or think is more important than what you experience when you are actually dancing.

It means that all the time the reference is somewhere outside of you, outside of us. We are all the time doing things to conform ourselves to what was told to us that was good, or to what is considered as a reference.

If you take a closer look to this, it is a usual perception and behaviour for quite everything. Always trying to reach things that are out of us, always trying to model others who achieved what we would like to achieve.

That’s not bad nor good, that’s merely the way we are educated and the culture we are living in.

Biodanza is an invitation to change the reference by starting from what we feel and experience inside of us. Rather than doing anything to show others what we can do. Rather than doing anything to be seen and considered/loved by others.

Connecting to oneself is essential as no one else than you knows what is good for you, nobody can’t tell you what you can or cannot do. Only connecting to your feelings can allow you to take the right step toward your goals and dreams in life.

Finally if you need a definition of ‘dance’, here is one that is really relevant:

“dance is a meaningful movement to music”

The important word here is meaningful, and again the meaning is the one YOU give to YOUR dance, not anyone else.

So if you can walk, you can dance.

If you click on the picture here above you will watch a video taken during a vivencia taught by Rolando Toro himself. He doesn’t appear in this short video. It was in Summer 2007 in the South of France when he came, invited by our school of Toulouse to teach the module about biocentric education.

There was more than 150 people and we as students of the school organised everything. it was one of the most wonderful and amazing Biodanza experience I have ever had.

We also had the chance to “explore the unknown” for the 2 next days with him.

I will never forget this week-end.

Today, the School of Toulouse where I trained doesn’t existe anymore.

Today, the genius creator of the Biodanza system doesn’t exist anywhere else than in our souvenirs and in our hearts.

I am not sad.

Constantly things and beings are dying.

Continuously things and beings are born.

That’s life in itself, cycles, rhythmns, disappearing, birth.

That’s why I invite you to celebrate Rolando Toro this Sunday with Joy and Pleasure, my constant hosts in my class.

we will celebrate Rolando Toro and the wonderful and powerful systel he has created. We will celebrate Life and its constant changes.

Reminder: this class on next Sunday is not open to absolute beginners. If you have taken part in at least one class of Biodanza before, you are very welcome.

It i s with great sadness that we share with you the passing of our dearest Rolando Toro Araneda the great creator of this amazing system , his great poem.

He has been accompanied this Thursday 18 february in his journey to dance with the stars.

He shall return to the great embrace of his beloved Mother Earth, in the Cementary of Parque del recuerdo, Av. Americo Vespucio 555, Friday 19 February during the morning, time to be confrimed.

A question for you: Are you ready?

Ready to what? I can hear you saying. Ready to discover … If I could tell you what, it wouldn’t be a discovery any longer. And I don’t know as it is different for everyone and impossible to explain.

if you are not ready, it’s one more reason to embark on this new adventure.

This adventure is the one you always have been dreaming of, but you never dared to live.

This adventure is the one I will open for you from next Sunday, the one where you will meet yourself and your feelings like never before. The one where you will meet your like-minded brothers, sisters and family of heart.

What is so special about the class from this next Sunday?, I can hear you asking. Only one simple thing, yet important: no beginner in this class for the next 3 weeks. What is the difference? I really can’t explain something you only can experience. Come to the class and you will discover and for sure, you will enjoy it.

This week was for me one of the best of the year, full of good news and I am full of very positive energy.

Pumped with this very high energy, I prepared the session for this Sunday. To celebrate Christmas, this class will be very playful, enertgetic and expressive. If you are not like a skyrocket on Sunday, I cannot do nothing to help you.

Lovely reminder: bring a small present to exchange with others. If you can’t or forget, don’t worry, I will provide you with little surprises for you to give each others.

Commitment reminder: the class from January will start a new step for the best of everyone who is willing to go further in this life adventure with me as a guide. And I can promise you I will offer you all my power and inspiration to make it deeply grounded while heavenly light.

I read regularly the blog of Seth Godin, he is a real inspiration for me, and his last post ( What’s it like? ) is talking exactly about one of the main problem I encounter when it comes to market something as new and impossible to explain as Biodanza is.

People ask me so often ‘what is Biodanza like?”, and what could I answer?

Seth Godin says: “If you want a fast start and good sales, be ready to answer the question.

When you have something that’s a breakthrough, though, perhaps you need to say instead, “It’s not like anything. You need to trust me and just taste it.”"

and what if I need a fast start and good sales, and it is a breakthrough even?

I have to accept it will take time.

But I will find a way to bring Biodanza to the world, trust me.

My monograph should do that.

Hopefully.

The end of the year is approaching, only 2 classes before the Christmas hollidays and the class will restart on Sunday January 10th.

I want to take some time to look back at these past 2 months and look forward to the next months from January.

First I am very grateful for all these Sundays, your wonderful presence and most importantly, Thank you so much for trusting me. My whish is to dedicate even more my teaching to you, to your well-being and your evolution. I hope this nice group will evolve and get nicer and stronger.

I – and all people in the group – had the pleasure to meet very nice people. But some of you disappeared despite the fact they were very happy during and after the class. I would like to hear from you, how your life is going?

Finally what was your experience in the biodanza class? Will I / we have any chance to meet you again, in the class or elsewhere?

Biodanza and commitment to yourself, to the teacher and to the group: What is your own will to evolve?

My biggest wish is to bring you the best in the weekly class. For that, I realised I need to explain you some little but important things about what Biodanza is:

Biodanza is a dance that works deeply in the person. It is a system that has been studied for years to help the human being in his personal growth, independance and pleasure.

For this system to work, commitment is essential. Why? Because if you belong to a group where you find the same people each week, it is easier to create the feeling of a place where everyone can be him/herself!

I’m now leading an “Initiation” class (level 1 in Biodanza). If we all want to go further into “Deepening and Radicalisation of Vivencias” (level 2), we need to create a group of people who commit with themselves, with the teacher and with the group.

The commitment for this personal development practice to be at its maximum efficiency is of 2-3 years. You don’t have to commit that many years, but at least you have an idea, how deep and structured Biodanza is!

To help you take the step, I am reorganising the class from January:

I will set up a new financial system that advantages people who commit for 1 or 3 months. ( details soon on the website )
The class will be only accessible to new beginners on the first Sunday of each month. It will allow the group to go deeper on the following Sundays.
If you are interested in coming to the class, but cannot commit to come on a regular basis, please come and talk to me.

If you are ready, let us embark for this beautiful adventure with me and this lovely group from January 10th.

PS: I will start to film the people who agree to take part in my monograph from January as well. I won’t film people dancing in the class, I’d rather record very short testimonials just before and after the class, and also with time intervals ( today – one month later – 3 months later ). If you are interested, let me know in replying to this letter.

2 special events to celebrate Life ( approaching Christmas )

Dear Dancers,

I hope you are all well and that you have a lovely Sunday.
Today was another lovely class, with lovely people.

In december, the class will celebrate 2 special events:

the 6th December : St Nicolas: in Belgium, where I come from, all the children receive presents and we will celebrate it in a way that will be a special surprise for everyone.

the 13th December : to celebrate Christmas in advance, I invite to bring a small present ( it is more the intention than the object ) to exchange with others.

I hope to see you for these 2 events.
Biodanza is a feast of Life and the Christmas time is a celebration of Life
